The best AirPods Pro 3 ear tips are the ones that stay comfortable, seal properly, and fit your exact model. Try the included sizes before buying replacements. If your current tips already fit well, a fresh set of the same size is a more straightforward purchase than changing materials.

THE QUICK VERDICT
Find your size before choosing a brand
Start with Apple’s included tips. Choose an Apple replacement if you want the same fit again; consider a Pro 3-specific alternative if you have a clear problem the original tips do not solve.
How we assessed this: We checked Apple documentation and manufacturer product listings. This is a research-based guide; we have not tested these replacement tips or measured their noise isolation.
Which AirPods Pro 3 ear tip size should you use?
AirPods Pro 3 come with XXS, XS, S, M, and L tips. Medium is fitted initially. Check the size marking inside the rolled-back edge of a tip rather than guessing from its appearance. Apple explains the size range and model differences in its ear-tip attachment guide.
There is no universal best size. Choose each ear separately. Apple suggests wearing the earbuds for 10–15 minutes during ordinary movement to judge comfort and security. A tip that slips or feels loose may be too small; pressure or a compressed feeling can indicate a tip that is too large. Reposition the earbud before deciding you need a new size. See Apple’s fitting guidance.
| What you notice | What to try next | What to record |
|---|---|---|
| Comfortable and secure | Keep that size as your baseline. | Left and right sizes, plus comfort after a short walk. |
| Loose during movement | Adjust the position, then compare the next larger size. | Whether security improves without added pressure. |
| Pressure or an uncomfortable fit | Compare a smaller size. Do not force the earbud deeper. | Whether you can wear it comfortably during normal use. |
| One ear fits differently | Choose the two sides independently. | The size that works in each ear. |
Our suggestion: change one side at a time and keep a simple note on your phone. Comparing several tips quickly, without recording the sizes, makes it easy to lose track of the combination you preferred. You do not need to buy an accessory to carry out this first comparison.
Run the Acoustic Seal Test on AirPods Pro 3
With your earbuds connected and in your ears, open Settings → Bluetooth → the information button beside your AirPods → Acoustic Seal Test. On Pro 3, this test requires iOS or iPadOS 26 or later. Follow Continue and Play. If prompted, reposition the earbuds and retest before changing size. Different sizes in the two ears are fine. Apple distinguishes this from the older Ear Tip Fit Test in its ear-tip selection instructions.
Treat the result as one part of your decision. A useful comparison also asks whether you can tolerate the fit during your normal listening session. Do not buy a replacement solely because someone else’s preferred size differs from yours.
If you use Pro 3’s workout heart-rate feature, there is another fit consideration: sensor contact with your skin. Apple says the best size for that contact can differ from the best acoustic seal. Its fit guide covers positioning and clean, dry sensors. A successful audio test alone is not a complete check of workout tracking.
Do AirPods Pro 2 ear tips fit AirPods Pro 3?
Buy tips explicitly made for AirPods Pro 3. Apple describes its tips as model-specific and says they are not interchangeable between models in the current user guide. A listing that only says “AirPods Pro” leaves an important question unanswered.
Check the selected variant, not just the product-page headline. One listing may sell several generations. Keep the packaging or order details until you have confirmed what arrived. If you are changing earbuds as well as accessories, our AirPods Pro 3 vs Pro 2 comparison helps separate the upgrade decision from a replacement-tip purchase.
Apple replacement tips or third-party foam: what should you buy?
Apple: the straightforward option when the original fit works
Apple’s five-pair Pro 3 pack contains one pair in each size, XXS through L. The U.S. listing showed $14.99 when checked. That is an assortment, not five spare pairs of your preferred size; verify the contents before comparing its price with another pack.
Our recommendation is to start here when you liked the supplied tips and need to replace missing or damaged ones. If you already know your size, compare the available single-size packs too. An assortment is useful for trying sizes, but unused pairs are not automatically better value.
Comply: an alternative to investigate if you want a different material
Comply’s AirPods Pro 3 memory-foam range lists TrueGrip and TrueGrip MAX variants, with small, medium, large, and assorted options. The manufacturer says these tips fit the Pro 3 charging case and excludes Pro 1 and Pro 2 compatibility. Those are manufacturer claims, not results from our own testing.
Compare the exact variant, care instructions, pack contents, and return conditions. We cannot call it more comfortable or better at noise isolation without a direct comparison. A different material is worth considering when you can name the problem you want to solve; a more expensive tip is not a guaranteed upgrade.
After delivery, inspect the tips and attachment before your first listening session. Keep the original set during the comparison so you can return to a known fit. If the earbuds themselves no longer suit you, revisit our AirPods Pro 3 buying guide before spending repeatedly on accessories.
How to remove, attach, and care for the tips
Hold the earbud securely and grip the tip near its base. Pull straight out with steady pressure. To attach a replacement, align its oval connector, press at the base until it clicks, and give it a gentle security check. Use a clean lint-free cloth for grip if needed. See Apple’s illustrated attachment steps.
For Apple’s ear tips, remove them before rinsing with water, avoid soap and household cleaners, and let them dry completely before reattaching. Use the accessory maker’s instructions for third-party materials rather than assuming the same method applies. Source: Apple’s cleaning guide.
AirPods Pro 3 ear tip questions
Can you use a different size in each ear?
Yes. Choose the fit for each side separately; matching the printed letters is not the goal.
Are foam tips always better than Apple’s tips?
No universal winner is established here. Fit, care, and your tolerance for the material matter more than a generic “premium” label. Apple’s own Pro 3 tips use a silicone-foam design, which also makes simple “silicone versus foam” comparisons incomplete. See Apple’s model-specific explanation.
Should you replace the whole set of earbuds for a missing tip?
Check the replacement-tip options first. A missing accessory and a faulty earbud are different purchasing decisions.
Do you need a new protective cover when changing tips?
Not as part of an ordinary tip replacement. A cover protects the outside of the charging case. If you are shopping for one separately, use our Pro 3 case-cover compatibility guide.
Our recommendation
Keep the included tips if they work. For replacements, establish your left and right sizes, verify Pro 3 compatibility, then compare pack contents and return terms. Try an alternative for a specific fit problem rather than buying on promises of universally better sound.
Product options and prices can change. Check the selected variant and current seller terms before ordering.
